Exodus - Chapter 31

Bible Study Notes

Exodus 31:1-11 God instructs Moses to call Bezalel of the tribe of Judah to devise the designs and to construct the tabernacle and all of the objects discussed previously. The Lord will fill Bezalel with the Holy Spirit to give him the ability, intelligence, and knowledge to bring the construction to life. God also calls Oholiab of the tribe of Dan to assist Bezalel. God will give ability to the two men to build everything according to all that He has commanded Moses.

Exodus 31:12-17 Keeping the Sabbaths was the most important thing above all else for it was a sign between God and Israel so that they may know that God is the one that sanctifies them. The Sabbath is holy and holy to the Lord for the children of Israel and it should never be profaned or else the death sentence. Anyone who does work on the Sabbath will be put to death. The people of Israel shall keep the Sabbath throughout their generations for it is a sign between God and Israel that in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He rested.

Exodus 31:18 The Lord finished the forty days with Moses on the mountain by giving Moses two tablets, written by the finger of God, the Ten Commandments given previously in Chapter 20 in the hearing of the children of Israel.
